I hope everyone is having a great new year!!
Here in Cambodia, time seems not to pass, but my how it does. I check up once in a while (like every single day) on facebook to see what my people back home are doing, and I see that we are all getting old as hell. I don’t even have to look at y’all to see reality. I look at myself in the mirror and see Cambodia is tearing me up! but I’m working on keeping my figure and trying to get rid of that rice stomach and wrinkles.
But while my body is decaying, new life flourishes, especially in Cambodia….at an alarming rate. Recently, I made my way down south and stopped by my first host family’s house on my way to a wedding. They had twins!! Here are my two new little brothers:
As for the wedding, I can’t explain our adventure….but I can show you!
Anyway, that was our adventure. The reason we went down there is because during training, we befriended a very nice Ming (an aunt) who worked at the market and the love was mutual. She invited us to her son’s wedding and of course we had to be there because of Ming and because we knew her son’s bride to be, Suppia. We all had such a great time. Khmer weddings are pretty darn lively and just put a smile on my face. I’m having the time of my life, and I’m so excited for the next one and a half years I have left here in Cambodia. I will update with the Salsa lessons I am teaching here in Battambang and with the Make Light event I created, which I must boast again, was mentioned in the New York Times! It is getting bigger and better.
By the way, things at Make Maek gallery are going great. People are coming in and checking out the new artwork, and buying prints and shirts. It’s an exciting time!
Till next time!
